Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

In 2020-2021, Napa Valley Unified School District partnered with Promise54 to deepen its understanding of current organizational challenges and strengths related to diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), and talent through artifact analysis, district-wide surveys, and focus groups. Upon deeper understanding of current challenges, an NVUSD committee collaborated to create a DEI & Talent Plan for the district to execute over the next three years. Now with a formalized plan, NVUSD will assemble a group of 25-30 individuals to serve on an NVUSD DEI Steering Committee. The NVUSD Steering Committee aims to:

  1. Identify content areas where the NVUSD community might benefit from practical and informative resources, support, or education.

  2. Compile recommended resources related to these content areas.

  3. Assist NVUSD staff as they roll out resources and related DEI initiatives to the greater NVUSD community.

  • Promote equity by increasing institutional access to historically underserved groups.
  • Promote diversity and actively create a community of inclusion for all students, families and staff.
  • Create systems across all departments and schools that intentionally ensure everyone is respected and feels that they are part of an inclusive organization.
