Current Interim Coach to lead program starting in 2021/22
Napa High School announced the hiring of Askari Adams as the Head Coach of the football team, effective immediately, pending Napa Valley Unified School District Board of Education approval. Adams most recently served as the Interim Head Football coach during the 2020/21 season and previously served as the team’s defensive coordinator.
“I’m thrilled about the opportunity to be the head football coach of Napa High School,” said Coach Adams. “Napa High has a great tradition and history of being successful, and I'm looking forward to bringing that back.”
Adams has coached in various capacities, across the US, at both the high school and college levels. As a student-athlete in Pennsylvania, he played football, basketball, and baseball and received a scholarship to play football at Penn State University. At Penn State, Adams was a two-year starter and was a free agent for the Buffalo Bills. He also played in the Canadian and arena football leagues. In addition to his love of playing and coaching, he has also taught physical education and special education at the middle and elementary school level.
“We are excited for the energy and continuity Coach Adams brings to our teams and our program,” said Monica Ready, principal of Napa High School. “With one of the strongest defensive programs in the league and his commitment to student-athletes during one of the most challenging athletic seasons, Coach Adams has gained the hearts and respect of our student-athletes, coaching staff, families, and community, with his humble, intentional, and consistent leadership.”
