NVUSD Board of Education Trustee Jason Dooley Announces Resignation
Posted 5/27/22

The Board of Trustees announced on Thursday, May 26 at the Napa Valley Unified School District Board meeting that Trustee Jason Dooley is resigning from the Board of Education effective immediately. He made the decision to resign to avoid a potential conflict of interest as his wife pursues new educational positions within NVUSD. Dooley, who represents Area 7, has served on the board since December 2020.

"I am immensely excited for my wife as she embarks on a career that she is passionate about," explained Dooley. "Resigning is the appropriate decision to avoid any potential conflict of interest. This governance team and NVUSD administration work tirelessly to improve the quality of education here. We are headed in a great direction, and I am proud of the part that I played in that."

Mr. Dooley's decision is in keeping with Government Code section 1090 which prohibits the Board and its members from making a contract that would financially benefit one of its members.

"Trustee Dooley has been an exceptional and dedicated member of the Board of Education during what has been some of the toughest years for our district," said Superintendent Dr. Rosanna Mucetti. "I'm thankful for the hard and thoughtful work he has done to benefit our schools and students."

Mr. Dooley's seat will remain vacant until the special election in November 2022. The incoming new trustee's two-year term will begin in December 2022.
