Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we head into the holiday break, I want to express my deep gratitude to all of you, and reaffirm my commitment to NVUSD and our most important task: instilling and inspiring lifelong learning in every student.

Our 2019-2022 strategic plan outlines how we will achieve this vision, and in just one year we’ve already made significant progress -- beginning with making the tough decisions necessary to stabilize the district.

Progress demands change. And although change is not always easy, it’s critical we take action now for the short- and long-term health of the district. Our students deserve the best and so do all the talented people at NVUSD who are working incredibly hard to move our schools forward.

One of my favorite parts of my job is being in the schools and seeing our students learn and grow. It’s the reason I began my career in public education, over 20 years ago and it’s the fuel that keeps me grounded and motivated to create a better future for this district.

A New Year - A New Day for NVUSD
When I took this job 18 months ago, I made a promise to this district and this community to combat the new realities of our financial and enrollment challenges with the goal of bringing educational excellence to all  students. One thing I’ve learned and continue to be reminded of is the passion and commitment of our communities in American Canyon, Yountville and Napa. Together, we are strong -- and I will continue to ask for your support in uniting our district in ways that will make us even stronger.

To represent our steps to becoming a more united district, I’ve initiated an effort to evolve the NVUSD identity to better reflect the strategic direction for NVUSD. Part of this effort will involve a new brand that celebrates our amazing roots while looking toward the future. I believe strong and open communication is critical and I’m excited to have your input on what makes NVUSD special so we can build a new identity together that is inclusive of every aspect of our district and what we stand for. Please look for a survey coming in the new year.

In addition, in an effort to provide more updates, including in-person opportunities to hear your thoughts and concerns, we will be hosting a State of the District event in Spring and launching a new open dialogue series, called Coffee & Conversation with the Superintendent. I look forward to your input and engagement!

Finally, I will end with a heartfelt thanks to you -- our supportive parent and guardian community for all you do to help our schools and students. I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing holiday break, and I look forward to exciting work at our schools in the new year. Happy 2020!

Warm Regards

Rosanna
